Mackenzie Gusnowski

Mackenzie has 15 years of oil and gas experience, most of which has been concentrated in the heavy oil plays in Western Canada. Most recently, Mackenzie was the Lead Engineering Technologist at Caltex Energy Inc., providing technical guidance towards Caltex’ heavy oil properties. Prior thereto Mackenzie held progressive technical and leadership roles with ExxonMobil Canada, Husky Energy, Pearl Exploration and Production, and Alice Petroleum. Mackenzie graduated from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology with a Diploma in Petroleum Engineering Technology.

Peter Phillips, P. Geo.

Peter is a professional geologist with over 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Most recently Peter was a Senior Geologist at Caltex Energy Inc. in the Heavy oil Business group. Previously he was an Area Geologist at Canadian Natural Resources where he worked in central Alberta. Peter holds a Bachelor of Science, Geology degree from the University of Calgary.

Darren Grandoni, B.Comm

Darren has 21 years of experience in the North American oil and gas industry. Most recently, Darren held the roles of Senior Negotiator and Supervisor of Mineral Negotiations for Talisman Energy (Repsol). Prior thereto, Darren held the roles of District Landman and Surface Landman at Imperial Oil Resources. Darren holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree, is a licenced Alberta Land Agent and completed the Petroleum Land Management Program at the University of Calgary.

Brent Bracken, CA

Brent is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years of experience in both the domestic and international oil and gas industries. Most recently, Brent was a co-founder and Vice President, Finance & CFO and Corporate Secretary of Caltex Energy Inc. Immediately prior thereto he was a co-founder and Vice President, Finance & CFO of Krang Energy Inc. Brent has held additional positions with several publicly traded domestic and international E&P companies with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, structured finance, financial reporting and taxation.

Brett Wrathall, P. Geo.

Brett is a co-founder and Director of Caltex Resources and a professional geologist with over 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Previously, he was a co-founder, Vice President Exploration and a Director at Caltex Energy Inc., which grew to over 11,500 boepd in 5 years and sold in July 2011. Brett served as a director for Roke Technologies Ltd from 2014 to 2019 and earlier in his career, held various geological positions at Krang Energy Inc. and Husky Energy.

Thomas M. Bieschke, P. Eng., P.E.

Tom is a professional engineer with 24 years of diverse experience in the oil and gas industry across basins in Western Canada and the United States. Prior to co-founding Caltex Resources Ltd., Tom co-founded Caltex Energy Inc. and as President & CEO led its growth through the drill-bit and acquisitions from start-up to production levels greater than 11,500 boe/day when the company was sold in July 2011. Prior to Caltex, he was co-founder and Sr. Vice President Natural Gas of Krang Energy Inc., a private start-up where he was responsible for all aspects of strategy and execution for the gas business and was instrumental in the growth of the company’s production from start-up to 5,000 boe/day prior to its sale in 2005. Previously, he had various technical and management roles with Burlington Resources in Calgary and Midland, Texas. Tom received Bachelor of Science Degrees in Petroleum and Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1996. Tom is currently a director of privately held Compass Well Services, a Texas-based pressure pumping company.
